Franken Bag ( B ) Sprayed

So I found this Giorgio ( Armani? ) bag at a thrift store for 3 dollars ( It was customer appreciation day ). It has these killer yellow stripes and is sturdy as can be, but I wasn’t too fond of the emblem and type on the front. It felt a bit feminine to me and I’ve been wanting to stencil on a bag. So, I made edits.

1. The single shoulder strap on the back was reversed on the bottom for some reason so I cut and re-sewed it. No  problem.

2. Did a ‘lil comp on the ‘puter to figure out where I wanted to place the penguin stencil. This stencil was made from a zoo photo I took about a month ago. I have the penguin kind of interacting with the marked out logo on the bag.

Thoughts : Uh. It’s not as clean as I would like, but it does feel like if I carry this thing around, it’s representing me more than Giorgio.

Stencil attempt 1 : Success?

Frankenbag – Work In Progress

drawstringbag

Bag : Hobby Lobby  $10
Straps : 2 Yards Chocolate Brown belt-material : Hobby Lobby $3
Spray Paint : Borrowed

Alright! It’s about time. I’ve been waiting to start on some kind of bag project for a long time now!

I’m going into this one with very little intention, some kind of feeling in mind and with a scavenger’s heart.

This bag is a drawstring sack of sorts that was all white canvas with two raw canvas colored straps on the back.

The Plan : I’d like to come out with a bag that has a personal touch, is a bit rustic and doesn’t need to carry a laptop or textbook. This sucker holds a shirt, maybe some swimshorts, an umbrella, a blanket or maybe some boxing gloves. It’s lean, travels a lot but is still nice to your parents at the dinner table.

I’ve painted the front pocket red using everyday spray paint to warm it up, maybe touch on a classic-sport scheme, but that will be revised soon with perhaps a stencil of either an animal or space motif. I’m like that.

Tonight I replaced the bag’s two back straps with two yards of chocolate brown belt-like material and kept the silver loops attached. I’d like to replace the white drawstring with something a bit classier.

Next up will be looking for a piece of discarded leather at either a thrift store or friend’s house as I’m not interested in buying blatant animal products to make this, though I can’t claim to be vegan or even vegetarian in my choices. I won’t pretend but we can all try!

I’m looking to name it. Maybe “The Bum” or ” Ryu “. Frankenbag, for now.

Stay tuned citizens.
