Project 49 – Local Posterer Extraordinaire

I like this guy’s motivation. I stumbled upon this on the Communication Arts webpage and found it be pretty inspirational. Here’s why.

This designer walks his own town, photographs, then creates a poster for each part of the city. These are fantastic posters, crafted and classic in that 50’s blue and dirty-white and pulls from landmarks of the town to make engaging posters that are such a welcomed change to the typical squander that one usually finds attached to a light pole while walking down a main street.

CA April / March

Just a quick post here. I’ve received the March/April issue of CA and I feel to the need to spread the good word. This issue features an interview with a Milton Glaser. An illustrator, but not only, Glaser has served as a mentor to designers and illustrators for decades through his generosity of wisdom and admitted curiosity about all things, refining his powers of design. I hope you find it inspirational.

Body and Mind

My head is but a shell, longing for the sea.

My head is but a shell, longing for the sea.

This is an example of a step in the process of a symbol design project I’m in the midst of completing. This step in the process is an attempt to tap into an emotional experience. Here I’ve replaced the man’s head with a shell that has opened up to a thought bubble describing it’s longing for the sea; being a sea-shell and all.

I love this type of process because it’s the whole reason I want to be in design; to make strange connections between ideas, words and imagery.
