This is a series of 3 ads for Chapstick that features well-known figures that may not necessarily be known as “smooth” individuals. The trick here is that in these particular photographs they either have a sly or sexy appeal. This ties in with the “Exceptionally Smooth” tagline in the sign-off to bring a somewhat comical touch to these otherwise serious figures that feature smooth lips. Exceptionally smooth lips, rather, for exceptional individuals.
Fuzzy’s Taco Shop Update
09/30/2009Although this is a piece from the Summer, I wanted to show the cleaned up and updated version that has been selected for use by the restaurant. 10 Pieces will be produced, 5 for each location. This is really exciting. It’s nice to feel relevant! This is also now on display in the halls of the UT Arlington Fine Arts building. Thanks to all of those in the graduate program who gave their critiques along the way.
OVC Poster
09/20/2009This is a very very large poster. 42 x 72 inches.
This poster promotes the Organization of Visual Communicators and will be on display in the very halls of our fine university at UT Arlington. Though this was a last minute, emergency design, It was a pretty fun project. I love the primary typeface. I’m not usually much of a gunge-type guy.
Vernacula Logo Process
09/19/2009This is some process-work in creating a logo and color scheme for a fictitious language learning software company called Vernacula. The term mixes the words vernacular and Dracula to make an amusing play on the idea of language acquisition. Unexpectedly the V makes for something of a vampire-fang but doesn’t come off too ghoulish. The color scheme is mature and seems to hold it pretty well to the feeling of academia. This company produces a fictitious piece of software for learning Japanese called Kanabi which combines two japanese words which I will cover at a later time when that logo is further along. This project will incorporate identity design, interactivity using flash and work toward building an experiential design that promotes language acquisition. Stay tuned!
